Sisters of Mercy of North Carolina 2007 Bazaar likely Last! 

BELMONT – On October 6, 2007, the campus of the Sisters of Mercy Regional Community of North Carolina will bustle with activity as the Sisters and their volunteers open what is likely the last Sisters of Mercy of NC Bazaar. After more than 125 years of annual Bazaars, our last one is sure to be the best! Join us at the Yard Sale, 8 a.m.-noon, at McCarthy Spirituality Center (formerly the Belmont YMCA) and at the Bazaar, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., held in Curtin Hall of Mercy Administration Center, on the Sisters of Mercy campus at the corner of Wilkinson Blvd. and Main St., Belmont.

 

At the Yard Sale, 8 a.m.-noon, you can expect to see:

bullet

lots of toys, children’s games and clothing.

bullet

office equipment, from computer monitors and computers to scanners, computer desks, file cabinets and keyboards.

bullet

medical supplies like toilet chairs, crutches, walkers and wheelchairs.

bullet

craft and kitchen items like cookie tins, serving platters, trays, canisters, appliance attachments, etc.

 

At the Bazaar, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., you will find:

beautiful hand-crafted bead and silversmith jewelry of Sister Soledad Aguilo to be on display and for sale at very reasonable prices.

bullet

delicious mild and fiery versions of Sister Mary Alma Pangelinan’s chow-chow and jellies.

bullet

homemade pecan pies, cakes, yeast rolls, cookies and more.

bullet

nuts and nut mixes as well as delectible Lebanese pastries are packaged in a wide variety of sizes from small to family-sized.

bullet

crafts, such as hand-crafted crochet and knit items, are available at the most reasonable prices you’ll see locally.

bullet

hand-crafted notecards and reproductions of the late Sister Mary Theophane’s House Blessings created by her former student, Jeaniene Dibble of Art by J.

Not to be overlooked are the Sisters of Mercy Famous Footlong Hotdogs with all the fixins,’ and the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets throughout the day giving you a chance to win $250, $500 and $1000!

With a new organizational structure set to launch on July 1, 2008, the local community of sisters will be joining four other regional communities to form a new entity, the South Central Community of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas. Our Belmont campus has been selected as the administrative center for the group which includes Mercy sisters, associates and companions from the Regional Communities of Baltimore, Cincinnati, North Carolina and St. Louis which includes Guam and Jamaica.
