Congratulations to:
Charlotte Catholic has five students selected as National Merit Scholarship semifinalists. They are Mary Bedard, Andrew Brazas, Lauren Ashton Ives, John Luttrell and Mary Theirfelder. Congratulations to these students who scored in the top 1% of all juniors who took the PSAT.
Congratulations to two of our top student athletes Christian Culicerto and Casey McCormick for being selected as Charlotte Catholic’s nominees for Davidson College’s Bryan Scholar and Davidson Scholar Programs. These nominees were selected as possible Division One student athletes at Davidson College. Christian is nominated for Baseball and Casey for Soccer.
Kourtney Woodward- who has been selected as a Semifinalist in the 2008 National Achievement Scholarship Program.

Note: If you have difficult selecting CCHS – stop and see Mrs. Rauch before the registration is complete. There is a $21 fee from College Board to change centers once registered.
College Fair- Over 160 college representatives will be present at Providence Day School on Monday September 24th from 7-9pm. Parents and students are invited to attend the fair to meet admission officers and ask questions.

PSAT @ CCHS
Wednesday, Oct. 17
7:45 am until 10:45 am. The PSAT will be administered to all CCHS students in grades 9–11. PSAT scores for juniors are used to determine eligibility for the National Merit Scholarship Program while sophomore PSAT scores are used to determine eligibility for junior Advance Placement (AP) courses.
Please make every effort for your student to be at school that day, and on time, as there will be no make-up date.

The Process of Choosing a College- A panel of 4 college admission representatives will be at CCHS on Tuesday, October 23rd, @ 7:00 pm. in the Chapel to give an introduction to the college admission process. Representatives will present a general view of the college admissions process and answer questions. Parents and students are encouraged to attend.
NC Teaching Fellows Scholarship:
NC Teaching Fellows is a scholarship program for students interested in a teaching career. The scholarship provides a $6,500 yearly scholarship to students selected through a competitive application and interview process. The recipients agree to teach for four years in North Carolinas public schools after college. Brochures are available in the counselor’s offices. The application and further information can be found on line at: www.teachingfellows.org.
The deadline for returning the completed application to Mrs. Grady is October 19, 2007. Late applications will not be accepted.

The PGA Professional Golf Management Program at Campbell University is having a PGM Visitation Day for Juniors and Seniors on Monday, November 12, 2007. You may sign up by going to www.campbell.edu

On-Site Admissions
Seniors, you have the unique opportunity to receive an admissions decision "on the spot" from East Carolina University and Queens University of Charlotte. Simply complete a paper application and submit it to your counselor no later than October 22nd, along with the $5 transcript fee. On October 30th (ECU) and October 30th (Queens) your counselor will arrange a meeting with the admissions officer for you in the college center at CCHS. This is your opportunity to explain yourself (if necessary) and receive your admission decision in person. We encourage all students interested in applying to these universities to take advantage of this opportunity.
