Disney’s Dreamers Academy-An enrichment event with a special appeal for African American high-schoolers has been launched jointly by Disney and national radio personality Steve Harvey. Syracuse University’s School of Architecture is desperately seeking young men and women of color interested in pursuing a five year professional degree in Architecture. Scholarship money is set aside to fully cover education

SCHOLARSHIPS: You must bring a copy of all scholarship awards that you receive to your  counselor in order to be included in the graduation program. You do not have to use the scholarship award.

 

BURGER KING SCHOLARS –$1,000 scholarship available to student with a 2.5+GPA, works an average of 15 hours per week, 40 weeks per year, participates in community service and/or extracurricular activities, and demonstrates financial need. Applications are available at www.bk.com/scholars.  February 15, 2008 is postmark deadline.

 

CATAWBA COLLEGE-First Family Scholarship Competition which range from $14,500 to full tuition per year will be held twice this year: first on November 16-17 and on February 22-23.  The deadlines for applying for these scholarships are October 19, 2007, and January 25, 2008.  Students should have a SAT combined score of 1150, a 3.5 academic GPA, and have been accepted for Catawba admission.

 

Children of Disabled, Deceased, combat, or POW/MIA War Veterans-If your veteran parent was a resident of North Carolina when he/she entered military service or if you are a lifelong resident of North Carolina, you may be eligible for a scholarship from the state of North Carolina to attend one of the universities, community colleges or technical institutes within the state of North Carolina. FLORENCE KIDDER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP -The Mecklenburg Committee of the Colonial Dames will award a scholarship of $1,000 and this winner will be entered in the state competition for a $3,000 scholarship. The scholarship recipients will be selected on the basis of character, need, and scholastic record as well as the merit of a submitted essay.  Applications are due to Mrs. Morgan by 8 am on January 7, 2008.

 

Sallie Southall Cotton Scholarship-The GFWC Junior Woman’s Club of Charlotte is proud to award a one-time $1500 scholarship to an outstanding graduate to be used at any of our state-supported universities. The candidate is judged on several qualifications that include scholastic record, intellectual promise, and demonstration of ambition, leadership ability and the need for financial assistance.  Deadline:  January 1, 2008.

 

United States JCI Senate Foundation Scholarship Program-Each year $1000 grants will be awarded to graduating high school seniors, who plan to continue their education at accredited post-secondary colleges or universities. The number of grants awarded annually will be at the discretion of the United States JCI Senate Foundation. SunTrust Off To College Scholarship Sweepstakes-High school seniors can win a $1000 scholarship for their first year expenses at an accredited college.
