CHILDREN OF DISABLED, DECEASED, COMBAT OR POW/MIA WAR VETERANS - If your veteran parents was a resident of NC when he/she entered military service or if you are a lifelong resident of NC, you may be eligible for a scholarship from the state of NC . For details, contact the Mecklenburg Country of Veteran’s Service Office (704) 336-2102.
COLLEGE PROWLER/WACHOVIA SCHOLARSHIP - will award a scholarship each month to the student selected to have the best college application essay. All students have to do is submit an essay that they used for a college application. For more information and to enter, visit http://collegeprowler.com/the_scholarship.asp. Deadlines are January 31, February 28 and March 30.
DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS are available in a variety of disciplines, (e.g. history, nursing, government, economics, occupational therapy), and in amounts ranging from $500 to $2,000. Awards may be renewable. Students wishing to apply must obtain a letter of sponsorship from their local DAR chapter*, but need not have any affiliation. Scholarship application includes a 1,000-word personal statement, official transcript, listing of accomplishments/extracurricular activities, copy of birth certificate copy or U.S. Citizenship papers, and 2-4 letters of recommendation. (Financial Need Forms also required for some scholarships.) FIRST IN MY FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP - was developed in partnership with the Hispanic college Fund, offers scholarships to Hispanic-American students who are the first in their family to attend college, and have financial need. Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Scholarships range from $500 to $5,000. Fro applications and more information go to www.hispanicfund.org. Deadline is April 15, 2008.
JOHNSON & WALES UNIVERSITY seeks the best High School Chef in the nation for all high school students. Freshman and sophomores compete for one of 20 scholarships ranging from $1000 to $5000. Juniors and Seniors compete for renewable scholarships ranging from $3500 to full tuition. The first 300 juniors/seniors to submit a complete entry earn a $1000 one-time grant. Junior/Senior finalists will participate in a Cook-Off at Charlotte Campus at March 16-18, 2007. For more information, visit www.jwu.edu.
KFC COLONEL’S SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM was created in 2006 and is dedicated to assisting students with
financial need who plan to pursue a bachelor's degree at a public institution within their legal state of residence. To qualify, the student must: 1. graduate between 12/1/2007 and 8/31/2008 2. have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher 3. enroll in a public, in-state college or university (start date no later than 9/30/08) 4. pursue a bachelor's degree 5. be a US citizen or permanent resident. Students complete the application online at www.kfcscholars.org. The application will be available until February 15, 2008.

NORTH CAROLINA STATE EDUCATION ASSISTANCE AUTHORITY (a partner in CFNC) offers a North Carolina Education Lottery Scholarship for North Carolina residents who enroll for at least six credit hours per semester in a curriculum program; meet the Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements of the institution; must be admitted, enrolled and classified as an undergraduate student in an eligible North Carolina institution. SCHOLAR ATHLETE MILK MUSTACHE of the YEAR AWARD PROGRAM - SAMMY ($7,500)-Recognizes outstanding scholar athletes in grade 12. Judging of the nominees will be based on five criteria: academic performance, athletic excellence, leadership, community service, and milk experience.
