Information about Peer Mentors
WELCOME ORIENTATION FOR NEW FRESHMEN takes place the Sunday before the new school year begins. Freshmen will be assigned to a rising Junior or Senior to assist with orientation. Freshmen will receive a notice regarding the program in the mail.
NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION: For all students Grades 9-12 who are NEW to the MACS system, there will be a special orientation scheduled prior to the new school year (refer to the school calendar). It is a great way for new students to meet each other in their respective grades.. Students will meet with an assigned Peer Mentor for orientation, schedules, books, dress code etc. Two weeks after school begins, students are invited to a special pizza lunch with counselors to discuss their progress and any concerns they may have.
New Freshmen will receive a Big Brother or Sister for the general orientation and may request a Freshman Peer Mentor if so desired. Requests may be made by calling the Campus Minister at 704-543-1127, x3154.
BIG BROTHER & BIG SISTER: Each Spring, Sophomores have the opportunity to apply to serve as a Big Brother or Sister to a new Freshmen who will be attending in the Fall. Students are required to complete an application, and receive positive recommendations from Faculty. Campus Ministry will send the recommendation form to the Faculty.
Once accepted to the program, Sophomores will be assigned to one or two Freshmen. Requirements include phone call(s) to their Freshmen, attendance at a Welcome Orientation in August before school starts and continued communication throughout the school year.
PEER MENTORS: All students are invited to serve as Peer Mentors for new students arriving to CCHS. An application is required as well as positive Faculty recommendations. Mentors are required to assist new students with schedules, orientation, lunches, extracurricular and any questions the students may have.
FACULTY PRAYER & BREAKFAST: Each Thursday, our faculty and staff gather for prayer before school begins. Our Moms In Touch prayer group generously provide breakfast for our faculty throughout the year. If you are able to assist by providing bagels, pastries, etc., please call Campus Ministry at 704-543-1127, x3193. Monetary donations are also accepted to help defray costs. This has been a wonderful way for our parents to express gratitude and support to our great faculty and staff.
ROSARY MAKERS CLUB: A great way for students to get involved with their faith and spread the Good News is through this fun club. All supplies are provided. All of the rosaries made are sent overseas to missions and are also available in our chapel for students to use. The meetings are held in room #105 the third week of the month and are advertised in our weekly bulletin. All students are invited!
