Meeting Minutes for December 17, 2007

Meeting Attendees:  Kevin Christmas, John Eichorn, Cindy Shearer, Donna Verhein, Kay Eichorn, Loretta Hintze, Mike Ellis, Dave Heiliger, Carolyn Culicerto, Nan Peterson

Minutes From November 19, 2007 Meeting

·         The minutes were approved as submitted.

Treasurer’s Report

·        Donna Verhein distributed the statement of receipts and expenses.

·        We are just about breaking even with concessions--$7,000—which Kevin says is OK.  Even though our concession prices are low compared to other schools and Coca Cola has increased the prices of drinks, our concession prices will stay as is this year. Next year we will look at the amount of food being grilled (due to tailgating, not eating as much from the concession stands).

Concessions

·        After the Fire Department came out, the hood has been cleaned.

·        A new refrigerator may be needed.  John will thaw it out and check to see if it is fixable.  If needed, he will contact Benne Hutson about another refrigerator.

Fall Sports

·        It is looking good for the Wachovia Cup.  Kevin is proud of our student athletes.  All our players are eligible.

·        Kevin spoke of the pros/cons of each team having their own Sports Awards Ceremony.  What do other schools do?  Ideas included:  an end-of-the-year celebration for all sports with a big banquet and superlatives; and a dressed-up Saturday evening with a guest speaker and having the superlatives in the next day’s paper. The formation of a Sports Awards committee will be discussed at the next meeting.

Spirit Store

·        The Spirit Store is closer to breaking even.  The best sales were in front of the stadium.  Items will continue to be sold at basketball games.

Fall Sports Program

·        The programs are out.  Field hockey and rugby will be included in the winter program.  When we get back from Christmas break, team pictures will be taken.

Cougar Paws

·        Loretta Hintz reported that Cougar Paws will be out on January 3.  She still needs a golf team article.

·        Kevin will give Loretta a breakdown of the Fall Sports Awards.

Other Business

·        Carolyn needs a list of last year’s golf participants in order to mail Save-A-Date info.

·        The Holy Angels tournament was a success.  Many positive comments were mentioned.
Mrs.
Jacobsen’s food was fabulous; the excess went to the homeless and Holy Angels.  Myers Park loved being included.  Pep Band was a nice touch.  The hands were sold by the National Honor Society; elementary schools need to be back involved in the sales as well as Myers Park. It was suggested that the coaches and players stay until the end of the awards ceremony.

·        Thank you to all for your participation and support this year.

The next meeting will be held on Monday, January 14 at 7:00 p.m. in the health room.
