2008 THIS CAMP IS OPTIONAL AND ATTENDANCE DOES NOT GUARANTEE A SPOT ON THE CCHS SOCCER TEAM. The Wingate International Soccer Academy Team Camp was created over 10 years ago to provide a quality-training environment for high school players and teams. The quality of the staff and the unique training environment has attracted some of the top teams from North and South Carolina and the southeast. The Staff includes College Coaches, Club Directors of Coaching and Professional Coaches with the highest coaching licenses from the U.S. and Europe. Each team is assigned a staff coach for the week and training sessions will be designed to meet the needs of the team as determined with the team coaches before the camp begins. Required Paperwork ALL FORMS CAN BE FOUND ON THE CCHS WEBSITE gocougars.org Physical Examination/Sport History Form Athletic Participation Form/Parental Permission Form Paperwork needs to be turned in at this meeting. We will also have each player fill out a data sheet for contact information. Try outs: Monday, August 4th through Thursday, August 7th at Davie Park from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM We will begin the sign-in process at 7:30 Monday morning Drinks will be provided. There will be a school trainer on site. NCHSAA regulations require a current physical before stepping onto the field. Roster will be posted at CCHS on the evening of August 7th. CCHS Sports Rules/Traditions If your son is selected to play on one of the teams, there are certain rules/traditions that are followed. I thought I would go over these up front so there are no surprises once the season begins. These rules are MACS/school rules

The 2006 squad quickly defined its own championship caliber by posting a perfect 12-0-0 Queen City Conference record and a #2 seed in the 2006 playoffs! The 2006 season record of 20-2-4 marks the 9 th consecutive year a Coach Hoilett led team has won 20 or more games, won the league championship and qualified for the NCHSAA playoffs!Long standing rivalry games against Country Day, South Meck, and Myers Park went 1-1-1 respectively. New rivalries have emerged with Raleigh Cardinal Gibbons and Gastonia Forestview. The Cougars beat 2/A State Champ Gibbons (1-0) and split the two matches with the Forestview Jaguars (1-0, 0-1). Blake Laurie used high octane all season to fuel the Cougar attack contributing 14 goals and 19 assists. Xander Drummond led all scorers with 16 goals. Forward Chris Needham (13 goals, 8 assists) and Co-Captain/Mid-fielder Sean Luckie were unstoppable all year. Midfielders Corey Baran and Ryan Myrick contributed big plays. Thomas Coughlin, was never out hustled and Donnie Smith’s all out effort in the Gibbons game along with Drummond’s goal, provided the winning margin. Michael Daly and fellow seniors, Jeff Stanek, Kyle Lesniak, and Matt Moorman contributed to Greg Hesler and the GKs posting 16 shut outs over a 26 game season. Going into the playoffs, the Cougars were ranked # 2 in the State. Reaching the State Championship game this year was not to be as new, 3/A rival Forestview, blanked Hoilett’s Cougars 0-1 in the 2006 playoffs. It was the only game the 2006 squad was held scoreless and ended the season at 20-2-4. In the final North Carolina Soccer Coach’s Association polls, CCHS was ranked # 9. The 2006 Cougars earned several post season recognitions. Selected to the Queen City All Conference team are: Andy Biermann, Michael Daly, Xander Drummond, and Blake Laurie; Second Team All Conference are Sean Luckie and GK, Greg Hesler. Biermann was chosen as the Queen City Player of the Year. Coach Hoilett was selected as the Queen City Coach of the Year. All Region Players are: Andy Biermann, Michael Daly, Blake Laurie, and Xander Drummond. The North Carolina Soccer Coach’s Association selected mid-fielder Andy Biermann to the All State team! Preview 2007 Season: This year has started off very solid for the 2007 Varsity Soccer Team. Captains Ryan Myrick, Donnie Smith and Nate Badke have led the team to achieve 7 wins 3 ties and no losses.
