 CCHS Sports Rules/Traditions

If your son is selected to play on one of the teams, there are certain rules/traditions that are followed.  I thought I would go over these up front so there are no surprises once the season begins.  These rules are MACS/school rules

  1. Practices are held at Davie Park and usually begin at 3pm.  It is your responsibility to find a carpool for your child.  The coach or team manager can get be involved in organizing it.
  2. Away Games/weekend games-every player must ride the bus to every away game.  Even if you live 20 miles from the school and 3 minutes from the away field, it is required for everyone to ride the bus. Permission slips must be signed if a player is not riding the bus back to school and turned in to the team manager before they leave on the bus.
  3. A button down with the CCHS initials and tie are worn to school on home game days for JV and Varsity and the seniors choose what the Varsity players wear on away games.  You get the button downs at Add logos.
  4. On game days, the players do not leave school before the game.  Parents provide snacks, drinks & dinner.
  5. A Drug and Alcohol Policy Form must be filled out by every player who makes the team.

Recap 2006 Season:

The 2006 Charlotte Catholic JV Boys’ soccer team claimed the first unbeaten season in over 6 years for the program. The Cougars were led by sophomore captains Andrew Benson and Stephen Montgomery. Both players anchored a solid Cougar defense that allowed a paltry three goals all season. Benson, the team’s free kick specialist, also scored three spectacular goals from set plays. Goalkeepers Joe Eavenson and Mickey Ryan split 10 shutouts in 12 games. The potent Cougar offense claimed balance across the roster. Freshman forwards Andrew Sperr, Robey Spratt, Corey Crowder and Joe Wirth, along with sophomore Joe Cowley, led the team with seven goals apiece. They were complemented by the strong play of freshman central midfielders Murray Keogh and Chris Kyriliuk, who added 7 and 6 assists respectively.

The season was highlighted by a tough non-conference road win at Forestview and a see-saw affair against 4A soccer power Myers Park that resulted in a draw. The Cougars ended their season with a dominating 3-0 victory over Park Road rival South Meck. “This is the most talented JV squad I’ve worked with,” said head coach Oscar Del Pino. “From top to bottom the roster is loaded, and it bodes well for the future of soccer here at Catholic.”

2006 STATS:

Goals: Andrew Sperr 7, Robey Spratt 7, Corey Crowder 7, Joe Wirth 7

Assists: Murray Keogh 7, Chris Kyryliuk 6

Shutouts: Mickey Ryan 10, Patrick Eavenson 9

Final Record: 10-0-2
